Weekend Recap: Sorry for being Tardy to the Party

I know, cheesy title, but one, I am tardy in reporting my Weekend Recap, and two, I now have Kim Zolciak (Real Housewives of Atlanta) "Tardy for the Party" stuck in my head... which is just scary.
And now you can have it stuck in your head too...
You're Welcome! :)

So back to the original purpose of this post: THIS (PAST) WEEKEND!
As you already know, I did manage to get all my grocery shopping accomplished and my cooking started. What you don't know is how INCREDIBLE homemade Chicken Noodle Soup is with homemade chicken broth!!!

BF did end up going to his Bike Swap (thingy), but thankfully only to get parts to rebuild his bike, and not all the bikes he finds on craigslist.
When he got to my place he was hungry, so I de-fatted the broth and made soup(where you've refrigerated the broth over night and skim the fat that floats to the top off, and throw it away).
I took the broth, and started warming it up; chopped up carrots, celery and onion and threw that in. And then I threw in the the noodles and chicken I had cut up the night before. Once the noodles are done, it's all piping hot to serve! I even had these adorable heart shaped noodles that I'd picked up from World Market!
He then was so sweet and put on Mary Poppins! ABC Family/Disney Channel has been doing what they should've been doing all along, and running all the original and awesome Disney movies!
In the last two weeks, I've watched:
Lion King
Cinderella
Aladdin
Mulan
Hercules
And probably a lot more that I'm blanking on right now... but either way, it's awesome! Kids really are missing out these days, because Disney in the 90's was too legit to quit!

After the movie, BF really was set to watch the Hockey season opener, so I caught a nap. We ended up going to see Gangster Squad Saturday night.
It my have been my totties which I confiscated into this appropriate post-prohibition era movie, or just his general hotness, but Ryan Gosling made my night in this movie! Overall, I really enjoyed it!
Sunday, I met up with some amazing Junior League ladies, and mini-leaguers, for lunch in Naperville. We plotted and strategized, before breaking out to rally the local businesses for sponsorship of our Junior League of Kane & DuPage Counties Spring Fling!
We're currently selling event and raffle tickets HERE. You need not be present to win, so PLEASE check out the awesome opportunities!

These are tax deductible and we hope to raise over 75% of our community project budget at this event.
Our organizations produces great events such as:

Done In A Day: We plan and implement short-term, hands-on volunteer projects in response to community needs and requests as they arise. Past projects have included collecting school supplies for children in need as they head back to school, refurbishing a teen center, and sorting food at a food bank.

Story Wizards: A project that encourages a love of reading and promotes literacy for children at risk in the community. Our trained volunteers involve children in read-alouds and literacy activities, providing positive influences that the children need to succeed and become future readers.

Kids In The Kitchen: We support this initiative and are committed to improving the health of today’s youth by empowering them to make choices that lead to healthy lifestyles. We provide informational materials, lessons, and demonstrations related to preparation of healthy meals and snacks that are both tasty and affordable.

Just overall is an awesome group of incredible ladies working to do life changing things in our community!

I'd like to thank the below organizations that have already provided or have committed to provide donations to our event/league:

Christmas Is Here!

While home for the Thanksgiving holiday Sister reminded me (and the rest of the family), how she thinks the psycho Target shopper is me.... So I'll embrace it... for now...

In the spirit of the season (as it starts tonight with the lighting of the Rockefeller Tree), I thought I'd post about all the companies making ornaments for this holiday season. With last week's Black Friday, this week's Cyber Monday, I can't even begin to tell you the amount of emails I've received from so many companies touting their Holiday wares.

I like a good Christmas Sweater, or mitten set just as much as the next prep, but I REALLY love ornaments! I love putting up my tree and having it glitter at me while I wrap presents and listen to holiday music. Also, ornaments don't require fitting rooms which will likely remind you, you probably ate too much turkey and stuffing for Thanksgiving... but that's neither here nor there.

One of the companies that recently came out with their own line of Christmas ornaments was Smather's & Branson!

S&B do a phenomenal job when it comes to needle point products and these are no exception. I've purchased many a key fob and flask, if not belt from them in the past, and these ornaments look awesome.
This reminds me of something you might find tucked away from the 40's in your grandma's old ornament stash. I love the old timey Santas! Especially the old Coke Commerical one!
I'm a sucker for Nutcrackers. My Mom used to take us down to the Atlanta Center for Performing Arts to see this every so often and I just love the story of Clara looking for her Prince!
And for $25, these things are a steal, because no way (even as crafty as I am) do I have the skills or the time to try to replicate these!

Vineyard Vines also has some pretty cute ornaments this year. I can't say if it's their first year doing this, because quite frankly, I don't recall, but they did a great job!
Of Course I'm going to show the awesome Whaler! Got to represent the Brand!
But Most particularly, I LOVE their mini-ties!

Prices vary, but either way your tree would look super studly in these!

And of course, I have to include the ULTIMATE in all Sterling Silver.... TIFFANY'S!
These will obviously be a BIT more pricey, but they're just so PRETTY!

If you see any more BEAUTIFUL Christmas ornaments you think I might like, PLEASE pass them along! I'm an avid collect!

Happy Holidays!

Summer Lovin' - Purses

This past weekend I changed out my purses to my Spring collection. Along these same lines, there are a few purses I'm CRAVING for the Spring/Summer! I'm what you might call a bag-lady, as I have a major theory:
*No matter how much weight you gain or lose, Handbags, shoes and Jewelry never change size!*
Kate Spade Tropica Jezibel - $275

Perfect Beach bag or Palm Beach purse! Love this for summer vaca accessories!
Marc Jacobs Yo Yo Dot Rain Tote $248
This incredibly creative bag is eye catching and extra useful since all we're getting in Chicago lately is precipitation.
Kate Spade With A Twist Orange Slice - $245
 Perfect for summer parties!
Vineyard Vines Bamboo Shoulder Bag - $165
Lilly Pulitzer Dress to Impress Clutch in 1st Impression Print - $98
Great for my white eyelets and other Spring/Summer pastels!
Just a few more obsessions to my ever growing imaginary closet of amazing goodies... now to win the lotto and make it happen for reals!

Derby Party - Hostess Essentials (Part 4- Derby Hats)

A hat can make or break an outfit (as any good British (or Southern) lady will tell you, especially with the Royal Wedding coming up!) This being said, one of the most important Hat Days is Derby Day! (Duh) I recently purchased a new Derby Hat, however before I reveal, I found a few other hats that are just amazing!
This one you can actually buy affordable! I almost got it partly because it's called the 'Scarlet O'Hara Hat"$40 at SunGrubbies
Drum Roll Please.....
I purchased the Vineyard Vines Run for the Roses Grandstand Hat! (If you read my blog on the regular, you know of my love, and slight obsession with VV). The only thing I might potentially change is the sash.... I am just in love with their Mint Julep Sash
But I think the Roses will match my long rose themed dress I plan to wear. Pictures to come!

Koozies (or Coozies) I'm CRAVING!

For those of you that know me, it comes as no surprise, that I have AT LEAST 1 koozie on my person AT ALL TIMES! A true lady knows, there's nothing worse than meeting new people with a wet, cold hand. Some of the Koozies I use on standard:

Now, on to my CRAVINGS! (some are missing pictures, as I've only HEARD of them, and therefore they are legend and I must obtain!)
Southern Proper - They gave these out during a Trunk Show... I MUST HAVE ONE!
Lilly Pulitzer- $5.50
They handed out Koozies & Croakies at the Cup... I live in Illinois. :(
If you know how I can get these missing collection items, please let me know!
I'm willing to buy them!

Derby Style

As previously mentioned, I will be covering details of the preparation for my personal Derby Party as well as the Event itself. Vineyard Vines has just launch their limited edition Derby ties and pocket squares. I know ladies, I'm very disappointed with the lack of Lady apparel... I have already reached out to my sources who said they don't have anything in the works for this year, but that they would pass on the concern for next year.

I just must say that I MUST have a Mint Julep Headband/handbag set! Check out the tie! I can't decide which color I like best!
Which color do you like best? Check out more here!

I am particularly excited because my mom and Nana are coming up from Atlanta for the event. I am also very excited because I received donations from the following wonderful and generous organizations/people:

I will take lots of pictures of the event and items as a follow up... but I can not be more grateful to these people for their help. The funds raised go to support our league and it's efforts within the community to promote literacy and healthy development to children in need.
